Alicia Keys named BlackBerry’s global creative director

Alicia Keys is apparently in a BlackBerry state of mind.

The R&B superstar was just announced as the "global creative director" of the Canadian tech company formerly known as Research In Motion which is now calling itself BlackBerry after its iconic phone.

During the BlackBerry 10 launch, Keys said "I was in a long-term relationship with BlackBerry, then I noticed hotter, more attractive sexier phones at the gym. So I broke up with you for a while. I missed the way you organised my life, so I carried two phones and played the field a bit. But then you gave me a call, told me you'd been working out. Now I'm happy to announce we're exclusively dating again!"

It's hard to know what she'll bring to the boardroom table beyond her own fame — aside from saying sayonara to her slutty iPhone, Keys says she's use the BlackBerry Z10 to shoot music videos during tour stops that "capture sights, sounds, and fans of every city that I visit."

And she's not alone.

Director Robert Rodriguez and author Neil Gaiman were also announced as artistic partners with BlackBerry.

These positions aren't as unique as they seem. Lady Gaga is a creative director for Polaroid and Will.i.am has held the title of "Director of Creative Innovation" over at Intel (which makes sense considering how, er, innovative the Black Eyed Peas are).
