Inspired by the beach culture and popularity of canvas shoes that branded the Australian lifestyle, Markus Lacaria embodied these characteristics into a design of a new shoe under his newly born brand, Luigi Sardo. The name Luigi Sardo came as a tribute to his grandfather Luigi Oggiano who was from Sardegna, Italy, where “Sardo” was a slang word for people who came from that area. Combining his grandfather’s first name, Luigi, and the slang word “Sardo”, the brand Luigi Sardo was founded. The brand’s values come from his grandfather’s struggle and the strive to succeed in a foreign land through hard work, dedication, and the determination to succeed. Italian style, simplicity, and sophistication are the characteristics of the collections of footwear that we have come to admire from Luigi Sardo.
The debut collection from Luigi Sardo, which featured the Sardo Classic Model, released in 2011 and sold out almost immediately. With the instant success of the first collection the only reasonable next step for Markus was to launch a second collection in June 2012. This new collection features three completely new styles of footwear: The Sardo Classic Mid, The Southport, and The Cicero and also a redesigned and improved version of the highly sought after Sardo Classic.
Look forward to seeing their new collection dropping in December. Be sure to follow them on Twitter @LuigiSardoFeet to keep updated to make sure you see this highly anticipated collection dropping soon
